This poster was created as part of the annual Marc Choko contest, organised by the Société des Designers Graphiques du Québec. For the 2018 edition, the theme of the competition was «Femmes et pouvoir d’agir».
The idea behind this poster was to express the anger, power and revolution of women. Even after many social victories, women still encounter inequalities and discrimination around the world.
The picture used in the poster is actually a scan of an old Playboy Magazine. It reinforces the importance of history behind women’s fight for equality and is relevant to an important liberating period for women. The bombs covering the woman’s nipples is also a reference to the modern and cultural movement “Free the Nipple” regarding the freedom of both gender to be topeless in public. The general feel of the poster is harsh, bold and explosif.
